‘Time to get online’ offers a training programme though a County Durham Housing Group, Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes, East Durham Homes and Teesdale Housing Association partnership, and aims to raise awareness of the benefits of digital technology and show people that the internet is not as daunting as it may appear.

The next interactive session, on Wednesday, 18 November between 10am and 2pm at Wheatbottom Community Centre in Crook, will team attendees up with a designated ‘Digital Champion’, who will highlight the basics of the online world in an informal setting.

By signing up participants will see the advantages the internet offers, including keeping in touch with friends and family, looking for a new job, saving money and much more.

Vickie Musgrove, Digital Inclusion Project Co-ordinator, said: “Our society is constantly evolving and is more and more placed within a digital platform, especially when you think about things like the introduction of Universal Credit.

“We want to show people that online technology is nothing to be afraid of and the benefits in all aspects of life are endless.”
