Aerial photography has been released by award-winning housebuilder, Story Homes, to showcase its Shotley Bridge development, The Woodlands, which is rapidly nearing completion.

The Woodlands was the first of the developer’s sites in the North East, launching in 2012, and is one of its largest in the region. Almost all of the 240 homes have been sold, with 10% of properties remaining available on the fourth and final phase.

Story Homes expects construction to be completed during 2018.

The quality of the homes on the development and sustainability of the site have been recognised by the Insider North East Property Awards, UK Property Awards and LABC Awards over the last few years.

The development’s commitment to sustainability principles has also been rewarded. Homes at The Woodlands are built to meet Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes – a high benchmark for developers. They also meet Lifetime Homes design requirements and have been awarded the Secured by Design award for safety.

Lyndsey Walton, Sales Manager at Story Homes, said: “As our very first site in the North East, The Woodlands was a landmark development for us, so we are proud of how far it has come in the last five years. It is fantastic to see it captured from the sky again – the images really demonstrate how close to completion it is, and also show the wide range of house types, the landscaping on site and the views that residents benefit from.

“The semi-rural location and good transport links have proved appealing to customers, and with most properties now occupied there is a thriving community on the development. We are looking forward to seeing the final homes at The Woodlands reserved and the final residents moving in to complete this community.”

Resident Marie-Claire Watson commented: “It has been great to watch the site grow and develop around us – it has a fantastic community feel and we enjoy living somewhere that has so many families living nearby.”

The Woodlands is set in the County Durham countryside and many of the homes have views across the Derwent Valley. Resident Sarah Dick commented on the location: “Having woodland walks on our doorstep is fantastic, especially for our four-year-old son, and we love the views from our back garden and the kitchen window too. Buying a new build, we thought that a beautiful view would be something we had to compromise on, but not at The Woodlands.”
