Following the launch of their new sales cabin at Cherry Tree Park, Barratt Homes North East have installed two brand new duck houses at nearby St. Benedict’s Hospice, creating a new development called “Cherry Tree Pond.”

Cherry Tree Pond’s duck development was officially launched in a ceremony held at the hospice. This saw Barratt Homes’ North East Construction Site Manager, David Jaimeson, meet with a representative from the hospice to release the houses on the pond for their new feathery friends to enjoy. The new duck homes now help to provide a calming and peaceful open space for everybody to enjoy at St. Benedict’s hospice.

In addition to the new duck houses, which were designed by pupils from St Patrick’s Primary School in Ryhope and come complete with colourful, hand-drawn designs, Barratt Homes have fixed the existing duck house, completing the development and ensuring the wildlife on the pond have a safe and comfortable space to enjoy during the winter months.

Katrina Flynn, Head of Fundraising Operations at St. Benedict’s Hospice commented: “The new duck houses are a great asset to the pond and the children from St. Patrick’s Primary School did a brilliant job designing them. The ducks are well loved by both the visitors and patients at the hospice and we’re happy they now have their very own Cherry Tree Pond development!”

David Jaimeson, Construction Manager at Barratt Homes North East, commented: “We are delighted to have been involved with the successful installation of the duck houses, which are a fantastic addition to the outdoor area of St. Benedict’s Hospice. The Cherry Tree Pond duck development is a brilliant parallel to the brand new Cherry Tree Park development. It’s always important to us that we connect and work with the communities that we build in and we hope to support both St. Benedict’s Hospice with further events and activities in the future. ”

Cherry Tree Park is a brand new development on Hetton Road, Ryhope. The sales cabin is now open for potential house buyers to enquire about the range of two, three and four bedroom homes available.
