Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

New family sessions on offer at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre

Families are being encouraged to make a splash this month by trying out some of the new sessions on offer at one of the county’s pools.

Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre is now running a number of new activities suitable for different age groups as part of the Swim Pilot project which began earlier this year.

One class which gives children and parents the chance to spend more quality time together is Ready, Sett, Splash, where they can play together and invent their own games in the water with the help of an enthusiastic instructor.

Suitable for children aged two to six years, they will also get the chance to meet Brock the Badger and his friends who are learning to love water at the same time.

Alternatively, people can join their baby or toddler in the Splashtots sessions and create lots of fun with the help of new and improved equipment.

Older children between the ages of eight to 14 can be kept entertained by Chrissy the Croc, a giant inflatable obstacle course in the large pool.

New equipment including rafts, floats and water toys are also being introduced to the pool in fun sessions. The main pool offers toys and floats for the over eights while the small pool focuses on the younger age group.

To celebrate the launch of the new pool programme, residents are also being offered 25 per cent off an annual swim membership when they join at their local leisure centre.

Rather than paying the usual cost of £22.50 a month, people will pay £16.87 a month for a whole year should they join in November.
