New Menu Is A Tall Order At Tyneside Restaurant

Screen Shot 2015-04-21 at 09.23.28GETTING a new menu right can sometimes be a tall order – and that was definitely the case at one of Newcastle’s lastest eateries.

Osbornes Diner, part of the New Northumbria Hotel at Osborne Road, has relaunched its menu to offer dishes with a distinct Stateside appeal.

And in a bid to get an expert opinion on the new offerings, the bar-restaurant invited star players from the Newcastle Eagles to give the food a taste test.

As far as the players were concerned the new menu is a slam dunk – with them trying everything from mini sliders to nachos, from spicy chicken wings to hot dogs.

“The food is fantastic,” said Forward, Darius Defoe.

“When we find somewhere we like then we make it a regular place to visit – and Osbornes will definitely become one of those!”

Visiting on a non-match day, the team were able to indulge in some of their favourite foods which for the American-born players were a real taste of home.

“We were delighted that the Eagles were able to come down and test out our menu,” said Atul Malhotra, Operations Director of the Malhotra Group PLC which owns the hotel and bar.

“We wanted to create a really authentic USA-style menu and getting the seal of approval from the Eagles has confirmed we’ve got it right.”

The menu at Osbornes also contains a range of “hard” – alcoholic – and non-alcoholic milkshakes along with burgers, mac and cheese, fries and veggie and fish options.
