Accountants and tax advisers V&A Vigar Group has experienced one of its best starts to a New Year.
In the first three days of 2016, the firm, which has offices in Darlington, Holmfirth and Cambridgeshire, landed six new clients, including four secured at client meetings held during a weekend.
The following couple of weeks have seen several more new clients come on board and without exception they were as a result of referrals from existing clients.
The sectors represented by the business wins comprise healthcare, property rentals, construction and even a farrier and are spread across Yorkshire, the North East and Cambridgeshire.
Managing Partner at V&A Vigar Group, which specialises in supporting small and owner-managed businesses, is Amanda Vigar who writes a no nonsense, hard-hitting blog as the Business Battle-axe (http://businessbattle-axe.blogspot.co.uk).
She said: “The firm has got off to a cracking start in 2016, with one of the best beginnings to a New Year since I set up the business in 2003.
“As a small business ourselves, we know SMEs do not just need support from nine to five on weekdays and this is reflected by the fact four of our new clients were secured on a weekend when most people were still recovering from the excesses of the festive season.
“We are winning contracts from a range of sectors, but the common denominator is they are predominantly referrals from existing clients who run owner-managed ventures which means that we clearly understand the challenges and practicalities of running a business.”
The first week of the New Year also saw V&A Vigar Group becoming as FreeAgent accountants, after staff passed a rigorous assessment, which gives the company and its customers access an award-winning online accounting system.
“We see this as a great addition to our service offering” says Amanda. “It means that small businesses can have real time access to their information. Last year we added Probate services to our offering and we are constantly reviewing what we can offer to our clients to make dealing with their finances more straight forward and easier for them”.
