Business from across Hambleton are invited to Thirsty Thursday’s first event of the year this week with a host of guests planned for 2017.

The free networking event will be providing businesses with the chance to meet David McKnight, Hambleton District Council’s new vibrant market town’s project officer.

David will share more information about how he can assist businesses with their development and also details about his role to deliver a range of projects across Hambleton’s market towns to ensure they stay economically vibrant and evolve to meet future needs.

David has worked in various sectors within the rural economy for over 20 years.  For the last 6 years, he was chief executive of HMS Trincomalee and, prior to that he was commercial manager at Visit County Durham and a manager for a large rural market towns regeneration programme.

Thirsty Thursday is a free, monthly networking event for businesses and organisations in and around Stokesley to exchange ideas and expertise as well as promote their services, skills and opportunities.

Each event attracts over 40 businesses and last November Thirsty Thursday celebrated its second anniversary. The networking group is the current holder of the Hambleton Champion 2016 award from Hambleton District Council, receiving the recognition for providing support and resources for local businesses.

The networking event was the brainchild of Anna Addison, who runs PR company Anna Addison Associates, and Sue Thompson, who runs Catch Design Management.

Anna said: “This year we hope to bring a variety of new guests to our event including representatives from organisations such as the BBC, the Local Enterprise Partnership and various business funding groups. Our overall aim is to help businesses grow and develop and our free events are always growing in popularity.”

Sue said: “David McKnight’s role is a totally new position but will provide businesses in market towns like Stokesley with a range of help and advice. It’s great that he can join us to kick of our programme of events for 2017.”

Thirsty Thursday, held at The Mill on Springfield, is free to attend.
