Newcastle United have announced that all standard season tickets for under-18s at St. James’ Park will be reduced by up to 54% for next season.
The new pricing structure, which will be confirmed in full by the club in the coming weeks, will see young people under the age of 18 paying as little as £3 per match.
Season tickets in the Family Area will start from only £57 for young supporters on existing price freeze deals and there will be significant price reductions across all other standard seating categories for youngsters.
In addition, a price freeze on all standard adult season tickets will apply for the 2016/17 campaign.
Season ticket renewal letters are currently being processed by the club and will start to reach supporters by the end of this week.
Lee Charnley, managing director at Newcastle United, said: “While the debate around Premier League ticket prices continues, we want to ensure watching football at St. James’ Park remains affordable for as many people as possible.
“There is a clear risk that clubs could lose generations of supporters with the cost being a major factor and we have considered that when setting prices for 2016/17.
“We want to encourage more families to attend and ensure that the price of a ticket does not become a barrier for our youngest supporters.”
As well as lowering the price of home tickets, Newcastle United have continued to drive down the price of away tickets, with the average price of an away ticket at St. James’ Park so far this season just £30 for adults and £12 for juniors.
The Magpies have continued to strike reciprocal price deals on away tickets with a number of Premier League clubs, with five such deals in place this season.
Launched by the Magpies during 2013/14, reciprocal pricing sees two clubs match each other with a low away ticket price for their corresponding league fixtures; benefitting travelling fans at both stadia.
The Magpies have now agreed 12 individual deals with seven clubs across the last three seasons. Average reciprocal ticket prices equate to just £21 for adults and £6.30 for juniors – representing savings of 40% and 60% respectively.
