SANTA and Rudolph will swap scaling chimneys for giant obstacles as they take on a family festive fun run.

The pair will be part of this year’s Reindeer Run, conquering 20 obstacles over two laps of a 1km course, along with dozens of children on Saturday 9th December at Coxlodge Community Association, Gosforth.

The event, taking place from 2pm-5pm, has been organised by Smile For Life Children’s Charity and will raise vital funds to help support disabled and disadvantaged young people in the region.

Smile For Life chief executive Paula Gascoigne said: “The Reindeer Run is a great way for children to burn off some excess Christmas energy in the run up to Santa Claus’s visit.

“This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever with loads going on outdoors and indoors at involving all the family.

“Children will be chasing Rudolph around the fantastic obstacle course which includes some amazing new inflatables, a tyre wall and even a walk-the-plank!

“To top things off, they will get to receive their very own Christmas goody bag and get their own pair of reindeer antlers!”

There will be obstacles of all shapes and sizes across the course, suitable for children from age three upwards.

As well taking on the fun-filled obstacle course, families will get the chance to visit Santa in his indoor Grotto, enjoy food and drink on-site and shop for Christmas gifts at various stalls.

The charity, who also have their own Café Beam coffee shop on Ashburton Road, Gosforth, provide much-needed, life-changing equipment or experiences for young people and their families.

Paula added: “If you are looking for a great, Christmassy day out while raising some much needed to help local children and young people then this is the place.

“We can’t wait to have as many youngsters as possible having some festive fun on what will be a memorable day for everyone involved.”

Tickets cost £10 per child. Children must be accompanied by one adult, who run free. Call the Smile For Life office 0191 2844166 for tickets or more information.
