NORTH EAST fashion students recently said ‘eyedoo’ to designing a dress fit for fashion week, exclusively unveiled and worn by a former Miss England at the launch of a new online eyewear brand eyedoo.co.uk in London.
The group of creative students at Sunderland College’s Bede Campus were challenged to design and create a dress using 300 eyewear frames for the launch of online glasses store, eyedoo.co.uk.
eyedoo.co.uk offers consumers a simple and convenient way to buy high quality prescription glasses and sunglasses online at affordable prices, with 5% of every purchase going to Vision Care for Homeless People. The brand wanted to make a statement at its official London launch, where the dress was worn by TV personality and former Miss England Charlotte Holmes. Members of the press and public admired its unique design and attention to detail.
Bob Forgan, managing director of eyedoo.co.uk, said: “For the launch of eyedoo.co.uk, we wanted to do something unexpected to make our brand truly stand out from the crowd, so came up with concept of displaying a wide range of our high-quality frames on a moving model.
“We were very impressed by the student’s quick work and attention to detail. The dress design exceeded expectations and drew large crowds to the stand.”
Sunderland College lecturer Jan Miller said: “When we were approached to design the dress by eyedoo.co.uk, it was an opportunity we couldn’t turn down.
“It’s a very busy time of year with students working hard to finish off final pieces, so we decided that this project will be credited towards their final grades and also stand as a fantastic piece of work on their professional portfolios.
“We’re thankful that eyedoo.co.uk chose us for the challenge. The students did an incredible job and the launch event was a huge success.”
