Simon Bailes Peugeot in Northallerton has ensured that a local charity can expand the excellent work it carries out in the local community.

Chopsticks North Yorkshire has taken delivery of a new Peugeot Boxer van, which has been modified and especially adapted for the community charity.

The new vehicle will support Chopsticks low cost garden and home maintenance service, which assists around 70 older and disabled people living in the Northallerton, Thirsk and Bedale areas.

The local organisation provides work based activities for adults with a learning disability and/or physical disability. Chopsticks’ members are supported by the full time Garden Care Supervisor to undertake their tasks.

Simon Bailes said:  “It has been a pleasure to be able to supply the vehicle to Chopsticks – a charity at the heart of the community that we have supported for many years. This new vehicle is perfectly suited to their needs and will enable them to transport up to 3 more people.

“This means they can do more work and support more people to develop the life skills they need to become and feel valued members of our community.”

David Stockport of Chopsticks said:  “Our previous van was starting to get too old for purpose and it only carried two people plus the driver.   We can now transport three more people to undertake gardening work, meaning that we can have more flexibility to customers and more individuals can take advantage of the work and life skills opportunities offered.

“The team at Simon Bailes Peugeot was very knowledgeable and professional and assisted us in making the right choice of vehicle and modifications to suit our purpose.”
