North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Julie, 49, and Carl Starkey, 50, along with their two sons Harry, 19, and Sam, 18, settled into life at the leading housebuilder’s Park Viewdevelopment in Gateshead, overlooking the popular Saltwell Park, just in time to mark Carl’s 50th birthday.

The family were keen to relocate and take advantage of the low maintenance that comes with owning a new build home, rather than spend time and money refurbishing their previous home.

They moved using Miller Homes’ Part Exchange* scheme, which allowed them to swap their old home for a brand new Miller home – the Brampton A housetype – without the stress of having to sell.

For existing home owners, Part Exchange* allows buyers to swap their old home for a new Miller home, enabling them to upsize, downsize or swap like-for-like without the stress of having to sell their current home. If a property qualifies for Part Exchange* Miller Homes will guarantee to buy at a price based on independent valuations. This eliminates advertising costs and estate agent’s fees and also allows buyers to continue living in their current property until their new home is ready for them to move into.

Julie, a cognitive researcher at Northumbria University, said: “As the time had come to part ways with our old home, location was key when searching for our new home. We wanted to be within easy access of Newcastle city centre for work, whilst feeling part of a close knit community, and Park View offered exactly this and more – plus, living so close to Saltwell Park is an added bonus.

“We love everything about our new home, the housetype is just perfect for us as the design is so innovative. My favourite features are the spacious open plan kitchen and open plan living / dining area, which looks out onto our garden. They’re great spaces for enjoying family time, as well as entertaining.

“As we live in a townhouse, the views from the top floor are amazing, and something which family and friends who have visited our new home always comment on – I don’t think we’ll tire of hearing the word ‘wow’ anytime soon.

“From when we visited the development and met the sales adviser Gareth, who helped us to find the perfect housetype to fit our family life, we’ve been so pleased with our home buying journey with Miller Homes and we’re looking forward to the future in our new home.”

Andrew Somerville, regional sales manager at Miller Homes North East, added: “It was important that Julie, Carl and their two sons found a home which would perfectly suit their busy family life, which our Park View development offered.

“They were keen to take advantage of the low maintenance that comes with owning a new build home, as well as the added peace of mind that a new build offers, including a 10-year industry guarantee from the National House Building Council, the two-year customer care service which comes with every Miller home, and improved energy efficiency.

“By using our Part Exchange* scheme, they had the security of knowing they could carry on living in their old home until their new Miller home was ready, and were able to avoid any stress which comes with selling a property.

“We’re delighted to have been able to help the Starkey family with their home buying journey and it’s fantastic to see them so settled in their new home.”

Park View is a development with three and four-bedroom homes currently available, with prices starting from £274,950**.
