Be Part of Mayor’s Sunday

logo-landscapeTHE Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Ken Dixon, is inviting the Borough’s residents to join him at the Mayor’s Parade and Sunday Service which takes place on Sunday, 15 May.

This annual event will see the new Mayor and other civic dignitaries process up Stockton High Street before the Mayor takes the Act of Dedication to the People of the Borough in a special open air service at Parish Gardens.

The Mayor’s Sunday Service will be led by Mayor’s Chaplain, Reverend Clay Roundtree and Reverend Mark Miller, Stockton Parish Church. Members of the public who wish to attend the service should come along to Parish Gardens for 10.30am.

Those wishing to watch or follow the Mayor’s parade should meet south of The Shambles Market Hall from 10.15am where the parade will form up.  From there the parade, led by the Salvation Army Band, will travel up the High Street. At 10.45am The Mayor and his party will join the parade finally leading it into Parish Gardens where the civic procession will be welcomed into the service.

Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Ken Dixon, said: “Taking the Act of Dedication to serve the people of Stockton-on-Tees is a momentous occasion for a new Mayor.  I would be honoured if residents from across the Borough could join me to be part of this special service. I look forward to welcoming you there.”

During the service the Mayor will also introduce representatives from his chosen charities, Bowel Cancer UK, Butterwick Hospice and Meningitis Now
