The first scheme in new a partnership aimed at maximising housing output, has taken the first step in driving interest from prospective buyers in Newcastle, with the launch of five new show homes.
In partnership with Newcastle City Council and Riverside – one of the largest social housing providers in the UK – housing and community regeneration specialist, Keepmoat has unveiled a collection of show homes at the £34m Metropolitan home scheme on Etal Lane.
The development comprises 163 two, three and four bedroom properties for sale, as well as 70 homes being offered with shared ownership by Riverside; and 20 houses and bungalows for affordable rent.
The Metropolitan is the first development from the recently-launched Newcastle Housing Delivery Partnership Framework. The initiative looks to capitalise on housing output on City Council owned sites, through the establishment of closer working relationships with house builders and Registered Providers.
Land receipts generated from the schemes are helping in the delivery of the City Council’s £25m Future Homes Programme. The £25m package of measures over the next five years will mean more, and better, homes in the city to meet the crisis in family housing, and will help to reduce by 2,000 the number of homes that need to be built in the green belt.

Etal Lane is located to the west of Newcastle upon Tyne, 4 miles from the city centre close to the A1.
