Partnership set to help shape our region’s tourism future

Screen Shot 2016-01-21 at 10.38.26Newcastle’s newest luxury hotel, Crowne Plaza Newcastle – Stephenson Quarter, has partnered with destination management and marketing agency, NewcastleGateshead Initiative in support of their shared ambitions to attract more leisure and business visitors to the city.

Signing up as a joint gold partner alongside developers Clouston Group, Crowne Plaza Newcastle – Stephenson Quarter’s general manager, Andrew Fox, has been invited to take up a place on NewcastleGateshead Initiative’s board, playing a key role in major decision-making to help boost the area’s profile and drive forward its future growth and success.

Set in the Stephenson Quarter – a £200m strategic site which is being developed by Clouston Group and dubbed Newcastle’s coolest new development – the landmark hotel has already made a positive impact on the North East’s tourism industry.

Since opening its doors in September 2015, more than £1m of confirmed business has been achieved with a further £2m holding space going into 2016. Events have also been secured for 2017. It has also created 150 jobs.

Commenting on the partnership, Andrew said: “NewcastleGateshead Initiative is a fantastic organisation which undertakes a vital role in promoting our destination to national and international audiences.

“They have, and continue to be, a huge support to our team. It’s a proactive partnership and we’ve been working together long before the hotel opened to spot opportunities for business development, promoting the hotel and introducing us to the region’s business network.

“I’m delighted to have a place on the board, which will allow us to be at the heart of shaping the future of tourism in NewcastleGateshead and the North East region.”
