Red_Sunset_mosaic_Sue_KershawCRAFT enthusiasts are being offered the opportunity to try their hand at a range of popular and new ParkMade courses held at Stockton Borough’s flagship museum.

 

Preston Park Museum and Grounds is hosting a wide range of courses available ensuring there is something for every adult to take up and no prior experience is necessary. Booking is essential for all courses as places are limited.

 

Bobbin Lace Making is a new offer for 2015, involving the intricate task of braiding thread to create delicate lace work. The course is being held on Saturday 7 March at a cost of £40 with all materials and lunch included.

 

A wide range of other courses available include quilting, mosaic making, blacksmithing, rag rug making, wood carving and felt making.

 

Those who enjoy the rag rug making course are also invited to attend the ‘Chatty Mats’ sessions. Participants can meet together and socialise while working on their rag rugs or enjoy a cup of tea while contributing to the group mat project.

 

The ‘Chatty Mats’ sessions are at no extra cost beyond the normal Preston Park Museum admission fee and run on these dates between 10am – 12pm:

 

  • Friday 13 February
  • Friday 27 February
  • Friday 13 March
  • Friday 27 March

 

Councillor Ken Dixon, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “I would like to encourage residents to try something new which may become a favourite hobby or pastime and bring them a real sense of satisfaction and achievement.

 

“The spectacular Preston Park Museum and its grounds offer a first class traditional setting to learn and develop new and existing craft skills.”
