Peterlee care home marks Afternoon Tea Week

A PETERLEE care home raised a china cup to Afternoon Tea Week – inviting families and friends to enjoy a cuppa with residents.

Bannatyne Lodge Care Home, on Manor Way, put on a spread of sandwiches, cakes and pots of tea to mark the occasion.

They joined fellow tea enthusiasts around the country in marking the national event.

The home’s own afternoon tea event was hailed a success by all who attended, with a round of applause for the organisers.

Resident Sarah Atkinson was joined by her sister Elsie and former resident Ann Butler for the occasion.

She said: “It felt like I was back in an old fashioned tea room with tables set with cake stands and jazz music in the background.”

Lynn said: “I would like to thank all the staff for their hard work in putting the afternoon tea event on. The food was excellent and a great day was had by all.

“It was very nice of everyone to give a round of applause for myself and our activities coordinator Dawn Minto for organising, as well as kitchen staff Wendy Rice and Irene Beer for the food and carer Naomi Storey for her help.

“We’re glad all the residents enjoyed it and everyone is already looking forward to the next one.”
