Planned roadworks in the North East: summary for Monday 2 to 8 November

s300_M42_dusk_940x600The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of Friday 30 October but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

A1/A194M junction 65 to Whitemarepool, Gateshead

There will be various phases of lane closures, carriageway closures and contraflow, north and southbound for resurfacing work. From Monday 2 to Sunday 8 November there will be a carriageway closure northbound between Junction 65 and Havannah Interchange, and a southbound lane closure between Whitemare Pool roundabout and Junction 65. All these closures will take place between 8pm and 6am, with a diversion in place where the road is closed. This project is due for completion by mid November.

A1 junction 56 Barton to junction 51 Leeming Bar

There will be phases of overnight lane closures and full carriageway closures while work takes place to upgrade the road to motorwaystandards. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day. In addition to this there will be a southbound carriageway closure overnight from 8pm until 6am, between Scotch Corner and junction 51, and the northbound will be closed between junction 50 and Scotch Corner. This closure will take place from Monday 2 to Sunday 8 November. The project is due to be completed by spring 2017.

A1 Lamesley to Swalwell, Gateshead

Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place while work is carried out to upgrade the section of the A1 past Gateshead. In addition to this there will be a full closure northbound between junctions 67 and 69, and southbound between junctions 73 and Junction 68, with diversions in place. This will take place from Monday 2 to Friday 6 November between 8pm and 6am. There are also overnight lane closures between 8pm and 6am. The project is due to be completed by spring 2016.

A1 Morpeth, Northumberland

There will work ongoing until the end of 2016 for the construction of a bypass. There will be various phases of daytime and night time lane and carriageway closures.

A66 Little Burdon, Darlington, County Durham

There will be work ongoing until January 2016 for resurfacing and electrical work. Overnight the eastbound carriageway will be closed with all traffic travelling in contraflow on the westbound carriageway, taking place between 8pm and 6am. There will also be a daytime lane closure east and westbound between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

A66 Bowes to Cross Lanes, County Durham

There will be a 24 hour contraflow in operation for resurfacing work. The eastbound carriageway will be closed with all traffic travelling on the westbound carriageway. This will take place until the end of November.

A66 Eaglescliffe to Yarm Road Interchange, Stockton on Tees

There will be a carriageway closure eastbound for resurfacing work. This will take place Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 November between 8pm and 6am, with a diversion in place.

A66 Preston Farm Interchange, Stockton on Tees

There will be a closure of the westbound exit and entry slip roads for resurfacing work. This will take place from Wednesday 4 to Friday 13 November between 8pm and 6am, with a diversion in place.
