Planned roadworks in the North East – summary for Monday 1 to Sunday 7 May 2017
The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of Friday 28 April but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
A1 junction 56 Barton to junction 51 Leeming Bar
There will be phases of overnight lane closures and full carriageway closures while work takes place to upgrade the road to motorway standards. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day. From Tuesday 2 to Thursday 4 May there will be a closure of the carriageway under junction 52, Catterick Central with a diversion up and over the interchange. There will also be a partial closure of Scotch Corner interchange. Then on Friday 5 there will be a closure southbound between Scotch Corner and junction 51. All these closures will take place between 8pm and 6am with diversions in place.
A19 Silverlink, North Tyneside
There will be a 24 hour 30mph speed restriction with narrow lanes. The eastbound exit and entry slip roads on to the A1058 will be closed from Tuesday 2 May to Friday 5 May. This project is due for completion in March 2019.
A19 Tontine to Osmotherley
A contraflow will be in operation on the southbound carriageway between the A172 and the A684 for resurfacing work. The work will be carried out between 8pm and 6am onSunday 7 May until Friday 14 May. There will be a width restriction of 3.5 metres on the southbound carriageway 24 hours for the duration of the work. A 24 hour 50mph speed restriction will also be in place on both the northbound and southbound carriageway.
