Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Post Office makes a wheely special delivery in time for Pride

  • Three Post Office rainbow vans will be out and about across the UK this summer
  • The vans help to mark the first year the Post Office will take part in the LGBT+ community’s Pride celebrations

Post Office has found a unique way to celebrate Pride this year, with some special rainbow vans hitting the roads over the summer, as the business prepares to take part in the annual celebrations for the LGBT+ community for the first time.

The three vans, which are entirely covered in the Pride rainbow livery, belong to the Post Office supply chain team and help to move stock around the country.

The UK alone has more than 100 Pride events each year and globally there are over 65 countries who have some kind of Pride celebration. Post Office will be participating in the London Pride parade this Saturday, as well as being the main sponsors of Chesterfield Pride (22nd July) and Bolton Pride (21st September) – both towns where Post Office support centres are based.

Post Office’s internal LGBT+ network, Prism, have led the way in terms of the business’s participation and sponsorship of the events, and are busy preparing for the big days. Along with the eye-catching vans, Post Office support centres have been decorated in Pride colours, as has the Great Portland Street Post Office branch in central London (picture attached).

Ben Spencer-White, Chair of Prism at Post Office, said:

“As a business, we want to make sure we truly represent the breadth of customers and communities we serve – and we know that Pride matters to so many of them.

“Pride also matters to our own people; and at the Post Office, we want everyone to feel empowered to be entirely themselves at work. We’re incredibly excited to be taking part in Pride for the first time this year, celebrating difference and diversity across the UK – I am sure this is just the first year of many!”

The vans were wrapped by Stewart Signs, based in Eastleigh, Hampshire. In 2017, they branded more than 17,000 vehicles; but this is the first they’ve done in Pride livery.

James Harris, Commercial Director at Stewart Signs Limited, said:

“Stewart Signs is delighted to support The Post Office with this year’s Pride campaign. It’s the first time we’ve wrapped a van with the pride flag, the results really make an impact and carry an important message. We look forward to seeing it on the road throughout the summer.”
