Newcastle_Falcons_logo.svgCentre Adam Powell has become the latest player to commit to Newcastle Falcons with a new two year deal. which will keep him in the North East until at least 2017.

Having originally moved to the region from Saracens in March 2013, Powell played a key role in helping the Falcons achieve promotion during the latter part of that season and has become a regular in the first XV.

Speaking of his new contract, the 28 year old said: “It’s good, I’m happy to have signed for another two years and I’m really enjoying it here at the moment so I’m glad to stay.”

Originally signed on a short term deal until the end of the 2013-14 season, Powell has gone on to make 52 appearances for the club to date, becoming an integral member of the squad both on and off the field.

“I’ve racked up the games while I’ve been here which is nice. That was one of the big things about coming here was that I love playing every week and want to do that.

“This is a really competitive squad so I feel very fortunate to play as much as I have. I do feel a bit like part of the furniture now but as long as I can keep helping us to kick on a bit then that’s the most important thing.

The Falcons have made their ambitions for the coming years very clear, and Powell is committed to reaching those goals.

“For the club though the next couple of years will be an important phase of this plan and I’m really excited to be involved in it.”

Director of Rugby Dean Richards added: “Adam is a key member of the squad and we’re very pleased to be keeping him at the club for another two seasons.

“He is an influential figure both on and off the field and has a big part to play in our continual drive to progress the club.”
