Premier UK Duathlon To Arrive In Stockton This Sunday

Screen Shot 2015-04-22 at 12.42.49ONE of the biggest and best Duathlons in the UK is set to arrive in Stockton this coming Sunday (26 April).

Now in its third year, the increasingly popular event caters for both participants and spectators alike, with the run-cycle-run race set against the stunning backdrop of the River Tees.

Come down to Stockton Riverside and take in the excitement as participants of all levels of ability compete in the Novice, Sprint and Standard races.

Cheer on your friends and family as cash prizes are up for grabs for both males and females entered in the Standard distance event.

The excitement doesn’t stop there as the Sprint and Standard races will also act as GB Age Group Team qualifiers for the 2015 ITU Duathlon World Championships or 2016 ETU Duathlon European Championships respectively.

And new for this year’s Duathlon is the ‘team challenge’ which pits clubs, work teams or family and friend teams against each other where the combined times of the five fastest finishers will determine the overall winners.

The Novice race will get underway at 9am, the Sprint race from 11am and the Standard distance from1pm with all races starting from the Riverside Road car park area in Stockton.

Residents are being reminded that there will be road closures and diversions in place on the day (Sunday 26 April).

The cycle element will take place on closed traffic free roads, with the run element on public paths.

Princess of Wales Bridge/Council of Europe Boulevard, Maritime Road (part), Riverside Road (part), Church Road (part) and the Gyratory will be closed from 7am to 6pm.

University Boulevard, Harvard Avenue, Princeton Drive and Columbia Drive (part) will be closed from 10.45am to 5pm.

Pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained at all times and signed diversion routes will be in place for access to Stockton Town Centre, the Castlegate car park and the Teesdale area.
