Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations to help tackle social isolation

Queen’s 90th birthdayREDCAR & Cleveland Borough Council is working with Tees Valley Rural Community Council (TVRCC) to try and tackle social isolation by hosting four celebration events to honour Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The events, which will be held throughout June, are to help address the issues of loneliness that many people face.

Each event will be held from 12.30pm to 3pm including a celebratory lunch to introduce people to other members of the community.

Information stands and one-to-one opportunities will also be available for residents attending the events, should they wish to discuss anything that may be worrying them.

The events are to be held at the following locations:

  • Earthbeat Centre in Saltburn on Thursday 2 June;
  • Riverside Building in Skinningrove on Thursday 9 June;
  • Margrove Park Village Hall on Tuesday 14 June;
  • Lingdale Village Hall on Tuesday 21 June.

Cllr David Walsh, Cabinet Member for Adults at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council said: “These events are great opportunities for anyone who may be feeling lonely or isolated, where they can meet other people and help make some connections that will hopefully continue afterwards.

“There will also be members of staff from both the council and TVRCC at the event should they wish to speak to someone about any concerns they may be having.”

Places are limited so residents are encouraged to book a place as soon as possible. Please call TVRCC on 01642 213852 to receive a personal invitation to one of the events and to receive a free gift in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday. An extra special gift will be available for all those attending who are turning 90 this year.

Transport can also be provided for those who may struggle getting to an event.
