Luxury hotel and spa Wynyard Hall has been named as one of the UK’s top-rated places to stay, scooping a TripAdvisor ‘Certificate of Excellence’ for consistently positive reviews of its food, facilities and service.
The stunning four-star hotel and spa, based on the outskirts of Durham, has received more than 500 ‘excellent’, four and five star reviews over the last five years on the world’s largest travel site.
“Utterly delightful”, “exemplary service” and “friendly luxury” were just some of the comments posted by Wynyard Hall guests on the website, which includes reviews and information on more than 400,000 venues across the UK.
TripAdvisor only bestows its ‘Certificate of Excellence’ to those accommodations, attractions and eateries “that make perfect trips possible” – maintaining an average rating of four or five (out of five), a high volume of recent and quality reviews, and a high ranking on its ‘Popularity Index’.
Wynyard’s “truly amazing” afternoon tea, served in its 2 AA rosette restaurant The Wellington, and The Spa were particularly noted by reviewers, with some suggesting the lakeside spa, set inWynyard Hall’s 150 acres of historic parkland and gardens, was the best they had ever visited.
Another reviewer wrote: “I would recommend Wynyard Hall to anyone, be it for a spa day, a meal, a stay or a wedding. Stunning venue and fantastic staff: five star all round.”
With 20 bespoke, boutique bedrooms and suites, five elegant cottages and several spectacular function rooms – including a 650-seater ‘Grand Marquee’, set within Italianate landscaped gardens – and a bustling farm shop and café, Wynyard Hall caters for all kinds of special occasions from birthdays and anniversaries to weddings, corporate events, charity balls and gala dinners.
