From raising glasses to raising thousands of pounds for charity, a local business has donated nearly £11,000 in the last 12 months to their local Hospice, Alnwick based, HospiceCare!

Following on from the success of their 2015 Beer Festival which generated over £5,000 for HospiceCare, Mac and Jane McHugh have made a further donation of £5,700 from this year’s beer festival, which saw record numbers attend.

On presenting the cheque to HospiceCare Jane said,

“This was another successful event for us, huge thanks must go to the locals and tourists who joined us at the beer festival, which was our busiest ever. It was a good team effort from both the staff here at the Red Lion as well as the staff and volunteers from HospiceCare.”

Mac added “Special thanks has to be given to local family owned business ‘Jobling-Purser’ who sponsored the marquee and beer glasses. Their generous donation enabled more of the ticket sales to go directly to the hospice and enabled us to be able to make an even larger donation to this very worthy local charity.”

David Jobling-Purser, Sales and Marketing Director of event sponsor Jobling-Purser said,

“As a local family owned business we felt very strongly about sponsoring the Red Lion beer festival for three reasons: it’s a wonderful local charity providing a vital community service,it supports the village and local businesses and brings in a lot of people to the village.”

Jane and Mac are delighted to confirm that they have chosen HospiceCare as the sole beneficiary for their 2017 Beer Festival.
