Regeneration update tops forum agenda

South Tyneside Council largeRiverside residents will have the opportunity to find out more about major regeneration projects in South Tyneside at the next meeting of their Community Area Forum.

Forum members will receive an update about the South Shields 365 town centre masterplan and Foreshore regeneration schemes.

The report will feature the scheme’s progress so far, including the construction of The Word, the National Centre for the Written Word and the development of the Transport Interchange.

Councillors will also receive a progress report regarding the mid-section of the South Shields promenade which is undergoing a £2million regeneration to improve links with the fairground and amusements.

Councillor Michael Clare, Chairman of the Riverside Community Area Forum, said: “The scheme will help to revitalise the town centre and Foreshore to make South Shields a premier coastal destination, providing a better experience and quality of life for both residents and visitors.

“I would encourage residents to come along and find out more about the progress that has been made so far with South Shields’ regeneration and how it will have a positive impact on residents across the Borough.”

Members of the press and public are welcome to attend the meeting, which takes place at 6pm, on Thursday 14 July in the Mortimer Community College/Community Association.
