Register to Vote in the Police and Crime Commissioner Election 2016

logo-landscapeRESIDENTS living in the Cleveland Police Force area are being urged to ensure they are registered to vote in next month’s Police and Crime Commissioner Election.

The election takes place on Thursday, 5 May 2016 and the list of candidates standing for election as the next Cleveland Area Police and Crime Commissioner has now been published atwww.stockton.gov.uk/pccelection

Residents who are not on the electoral register must register to vote by 18 April 2016 to ensure they can vote in the election.

Registration can be completed online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or by phoning the Voter Registration Helpline on 01642 526196. Those who would like to vote by post must apply by 5pm on19 April, while the application deadline to vote by proxy is 5pm on 26 April.

Registration takes just a few minutes and requires people to provide their date of birth and National Insurance number. The online service is compatible with all platforms, including smartphones and tablets.

Alternatively, hard copy registration forms are also available by request.
