Relocation Pays off for Adhesives Company

The company, which moved into 16,000 sq ft (1,486sqm) of industrial and office premises in 2014 has been successfully building on its reputation as a ‘tech savvy’ adhesives company to add a raft of blue chip companies to its portfolio with the result that this year’s turnover is already showing a 20 per cent increase on last year’s at this stage in its financial year.

The premises, which were self-funded, cost in excess of £0.5m and have provided scope for the introduction of superior manufacturing and production lines enabling Advanced Adhesives to manufacture its own specially formulated adhesive solutions instead of buying them in.

Three new filling lines and a testing and quality control lab have already been installed and the new premises provide a much better range and standard of meeting and office space.

Managing director, Graham Crozier, is confident about the future. He said: “We had outgrown our former premises and investing in this new building has been a great decision.  We have ample space for future expansion and the market is looking very good for us.

“We supply high quality adhesives and technical support to some really blue chip companies including British Airways, Bentley, Aston Martin, JCB and Nissan Tier 1 suppliers such as Faurecia in Washington – right down to one off customers who require an adhesive product for a specific purpose.  We were also appointed by Network Rail in February to trial adhesives with quick bonding properties for track-side use and recently attended the first Manufacturing and Engineering North East exhibition last month and came away from that with 20 new enquiries.

“I was particularly pleased by last year’s performance because we grew by a massive 19 per cent in a year when we also incurred the cost of relocation and our performance shows no sign of stalling because so far this year we are almost 20% up on last year with record-breaking turnover for our first six months.”

The company currently employs five staff and has plans to recruit three more over the next 12 months.

Together with the automotive sector the business also boasts an extensive customer base in the marine, electronics, aerospace, signage, white goods manufacturing, construction, power generation, military and engineering sectors and holds ISO 14001 and 9001 certification and are members of BASA (British Adhesives and Sealants Association).
