Leicester Riders forward Pierre Hampton is returning for his third season with the Club, after being named to the Molten BBL Team of the Year last season.

The 27-year-old Swedish forward has played for the Riders for the last two seasons, helping the team win back-to-back trebles.

Hampton also played for Swedish Senior National Team between 2013-14, and previously for the Under-20 National Team between 2010-11, and also represented Sweden at the World University Games in Kazan (Russia) five years ago.

Hampton has previously played professionally in his natvie Sweden for four different clubs; Norrkoping Dolphins, Uppsala Basket, Orebro and KFUM Uppsala, as well as having a spell at Plymouth Raiders in the BBL.

Last season, Hampton averaged 14 points per game – second best on the team – while shooting an exceptional 60% from the floor and a team-leading 47% from the three point line. He also pulled down 6 rebounds per game, and dished out over 2 assists per outing.

Riders head coach Rob Paternostro believes Hampton is a unique talent.

“Pierre has been a tremendous player for us the last two seasons,” he said. “He has the ability to take advantage of what any defence gives him. He can play inside and outside and given us exceptional versatility at the offensive end.

“He also has plenty of big game experience. We have all seen what he can do in the last minutes of games when the result is in doubt.

“Pierre still has a lot of his best basketball ahead of him. He has improved every season.

“He also has had a lot of international experience so he is going to be really helpful with our Europe campaign. No matter the situation, or the type of basketball, he has shown he can adapt.

“Pierre is a really important player for us and we are all delighted he is back.”
