Road closures during Bishop Auckland Food Festival

Visitors heading to Bishop Auckland Food Festival this weekend are being reminded that a park and ride service is in place to help guarantee a great day out.

Buses will be running from Bishop Auckland College main campus on Woodhouse Lane and back every 15 minutes on both days, with the first bus leaving at 9.45am.

The last bus will depart the festival site, from the rear of Wetherspoons, at 5.30pm.

Tickets are £2 return for adults, 50p for children between six and 15 and free for children five and under.

A number of road closures will also be in place in and around the market place:

Friday, 20 April (from 5am) to Sunday, 22 April (until 9pm): Castle Chare and the Market Place (including access to the market place parking bays) from the junction with North Bondgate and Durham Road

Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 April 7am to 9pm: Fore Bondgate between its junction with Finkle Street to the junction with Newgate Street

There will also be two-way traffic lights in operation between Wear Chare and North Bondgate on both days to allow access to Wear Chare/Diall Stobb Hill/Binchester.

There will be no access to Durham Road from North Bondgate.
