Roadworks and diversions affecting Go North East buses

Road closure at Newgate Street in Newcastle between Clayton Street and Gallowgate

From Monday 21 May until the end of service on Wednesday 27 June, there will be a closure of Newgate Street between Clayton Street and Gallowgate.

Towards Eldon Square, services will be unable to set down on Clayton Street West (08NC87), Clayton Street (08NC49) or Newgate Street (St. Andrew’s Church) (08NC10). Please use temporary stop on St. James’ Boulevard (for Central Station), or Gallowgate/St. James Metro (for St Andrews) (08NC13).

From Eldon Square, services will be unable to serve the stops at Newgate Street (Wilkinson’s) (08NC125 or 08NC126) and will alternatively serve the bus stop on Gallowgate opposite St James’ Metro (08NC15).

Service Q3 will be unable to serve the stop at Newgate Street (The Gate) (08Q01), or Market Street (08Q02) and will alternatively serve Market Street stop (08NC44) alongside Theatre Royal.

Services 26, 27, 56, 57, 58, Q1 and Q2 at Gateshead High Street

 

From Friday 15 until Sunday 24 June, the traffic signals at Gateshead High Street and Charles Street junction will be replaced under 4-way temporary traffic signals. 

As there are likely to be delays, buses may divert via High West Street, serving The Gloucester public house. This will mean that stops on Jackson Street and High Street West will not be served, so please try and use Interchange as an option during these works.

Service 19 at Klondyke/High Pit in Cramlington

The B1505 at Klondyke/High Pit will be closed for 3 consecutive Saturdays – 16, 23 and 30 June. 

The service will be unable to serve Klondyke, High Pit, Village Road or Northumbrian Road stops northwards towards Ashington. Unable to serve High Pit or Klondyke southwards from Ashington.

Service Q3 at Newcastle Quayside

On Wednesday 20 June, between 4.45pm and 8pm, service Q3 will be running its Sunday route due to an event. This will mean the service will be unable to serve stops on Newcastle Quayside.

Event staff will be on site to advise of way to stops – please use stop at Law Courts towards Newcastle.

Services Q1, Q2 and Q3 at Quayside, Dean Street and Swing Bridge

Due to the Great Exhibition of the North event taking place on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 June, Quaylink services will be unable to serve stops on Newcastle Quayside, Dean Street or Grey Street.

  • No stops will be served at Baltic, South Shore Road/Hillgate or Sage, or also Newcastle Quayside, Dean Street or Grey Street.
  • Q1 towards Central Station will additionally serve the old Quaylink stop on Market Street just west of Grey Street.
  • Q3 from Eldon Square will serve all stops eastbound on City Road.
  • Q3 from St. Peter’s will serve all stops on City Road plus the first stop on John Dobson Street.

Services 40 and 40A at Durham Market Place and Cathedral

Between 12pm and 4.30pm on Saturday 23 June, services 40 and 40A will be unable to serve Market Place or the Cathedral due to an event at Palace Green.

There will also be events all day between Tuesday 26 and Friday 29 June, where services will be unable to serve Market Place or the Cathedral. Please use stop on Walkergate near Millburngate Bridge towards coach park, or Millburngate Bridge stop towards Bus and Rail Stations.

Services 40, 41 and 310 at Mullen Road in Wallsend

On Sunday 24 June, Mullen Road will be closed for resurfacing. Services will be unable to serve stops on Station Road North or Mullen Road due to road closure.

Services 12 and 12A at Croftdale Road in Blaydon

On Sunday 24 June, services 12 and 12A will be unable to serve Back Lane School or Greenbank stops on Croftdale Road, Tynebank stops on Heddon View, or Wylam View stops.

Please use stops at Blaydon Cricket Ground, Monarch Terrace and Widdrington Road on Blaydon Bank.

Services 5, 50 and 50A at Whiteleas Way in South Tyneside

The northern half of Whiteleas Way will be closed on Sunday 24 and Monday 25 June for resurfacing works. Services will be unable to serve stops 17054, 17055 or 17989 on Whiteleas Way. Please use stops at southern end of Whiteleas Way.

Service 9 at Truro Avenue and Claude Terrace in Murton

Due to roadworks at Truro Avenue and Claude Terrace between 7am and 7pm on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 June, service 9 will be unable to serve stops on Truro Avenue, Bude Square, Penryn Avenue or Pit Road/Claude Terrace.
