Rockliffe Hall links with Butterwick Hospice as nominated charity for 2016

Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 16.26.52Rockliffe Hall has joined forces with the Butterwick Hospice to help raise funds for the charity which cares for people of all ages who are living with a progressive life limiting illness in the North East.

The hotel, golf and spa resort, in Hurworth near Darlington, has set a target of £15,000 and will raise money through various events including a golf day and gala dinner, while members of the Rockliffe Hall team will take part in a variety of fundraising initiatives such as the Great North Run. For the next 12 months guests checking out of the hotel will also be asked to make a voluntary £1 donation to the charity.

Each year it costs more than £4 million to fund Butterwick’s current services but it receives less than 25% of this from statutory funds meaning it relies on the rest from donations. The charity has three hospices in the North East – Butterwick House Children’s Hospice and Butterwick Hospice Care in Stockton, as well as the Butterwick Hospice in Bishop Auckland. The hospices offer a better quality of life through pain and symptom control, soothing and beneficial therapies, helpful family support and ongoing bereavement counselling.

The partnership between Rockliffe Hall and Butterwick was launched at a special Corporate Reception held at the hotel on Friday 13th November.

Eamonn Elliott, Chief Executive at Rockliffe Hall, says: “We are delighted to link with the Butterwick Hospice as our nominated charity for the next year. The organisation does so much valuable work offering care and support to hundreds of people, and their families, in the North East, every year. Between our team members and our guests, we hope to raise as much money as possible in the coming months and look forward to hosting some memorable events, on the charity’s behalf, here at the resort.”

Graham Leggatt-Chidgey, Butterwick Hospice Care’s Chief Executive, says: “We are delighted to welcome Rockliffe Hall as a new Corporate Partner which underlines once again the benefits of high profile successful businesses demonstrating their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility by aligning themselves with the Hospice and in doing so supporting the local community.”
