Rocks add De Souza and Hendry

Radisson RED Glasgow Rocks have announced the additions of Chris De Souza and Murray Hendry to
round out their squad for the 2018-19 season.

De Souza previously studied at Glasgow University and has been heavily involved with the Shell Twilight Basketball Programme. He competed in the BBL last season with Leeds Force, and will be looking to use his experience to help others while he develops his game.

“I’m excited to be coming home to Glasgow this season to play for the Rocks,” he said. “The fans are as passionate as they come and the energy in the Emirates can get amazing.

“There is a lot of talent and experience on the roster which I look forward to working alongside.

“As well as buying into a culture that has seen the Rocks consistently amongst the top teams in the league.

“I’m eager to get on court next week as we begin preseason, and excited about the potential as we head into the 2018-19 BBL campaign.”

Hendry is a young Scottish prospect who participated in the Rocks’ open trials and is looking to follow the footsteps of other Open Trial finds which include the likes of Gareth Murray and
Danny Huffor.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining such a fantastic organisation,” said Hendry. “I have been following the Rocks for a couple of years now and to be joining them is something I have dreamed of.

“I’m excited to grow with both my team-mates and my coaches, to continually improve both as an
individual and part of something bigger, The Rock Family!

“I can’t wait to get the season started because I truly feel we can accomplish great things. Go Rocks!”

Coach Darryl Wood commented: “I am really excited to be bringing Murray into our team, I think he has huge potential to grow as a player, very athletic and brings great energy which is crucial during such a long season.

“Murray is aware that it is a challenging year ahead for him but he is bought into what we want
to do and to really try to develop himself as a player. We look forward to getting him on court
and putting him through the paces.

He added: “We all know Chris really well from his time in the Scottish National League, and more recently his time last season with Leeds.

“He’s an aggressive defender and a great personality to be adding to the squad we looking forward to seeing him grow within this programme.

The Radisson RED Glasgow Rocks are preparing for what looks like a very hotly contested BBL
Championship season. Pre-season games have now been announced with the Rocks first official
home game on 30 September when they take on perennial rivals, Esh Group Eagles Newcastle.
