Ryedale Area Committee rearranged

A meeting of North Yorkshire County Council’s Ryedale Area Committee, which was suspended on 15 November after protests by anti-fracking campaigners, has been rearranged.

It will now be held on 11 December at the Ryedale District Council offices, Ryedale House, in Malton at 10.30am. The 15 November meeting was suspended when the campaigners staged a protest after a question they wanted to ask was ruled to be too late, having been submitted after the 10 November deadline.

The County Council’s Executive Member for Committee Services, Councillor David Chance, said: “This meeting has now been rearranged and adequate time has been given to ensure that all the written questions that were submitted to the committee, which are important issues for the community, can now be considered fully at the meeting.

“The area committee received a number of questions from the public to be put to the 15 November meeting, but some of them had arrived after the deadline and were therefore too late to be heard.

“The council sets deadlines for questions to be submitted prior to meetings so it has time to give each one due consideration.’’

On 11 December the area committee will also be considering other items of business that were on the agenda of the suspended meeting, including an update on highways issues including the A64, a report on the progress of the Stronger Communities programme and reports on police and fire and rescue matters.
