Sage Gateshead is delighted to announce six exciting performances, which go on sale on Friday 12th January.

International George Michael tribute act Wayne Dilks and his 8-piece band present a tribute to the late singer in Faith – The George Michael Legacy.

Country sweetheart Sarah Darling brings a Night in Nashville to Gateshead, as part of her biggest UK headline tour to date.

There’s family fun in store when The Tin Foil Astronaut lands to delight with a story of discovery, individuality and a celebration of differences.

Tuesday 13 March, 8pm, Sage Two

Following her opening slots for chart toppers Ward Thomas, touring the UK with her own Night in Nashvilleshows, and performing at the C2C: Country to Country festival in 2016 and 2017, Sarah Darling announces her biggest UK headline tour to date.

The American singer-songwriter, who made her name on the E! Entertainment Television reality show The Entertainer, will be delighting audiences in venues across the UK throughout 2018.

Sarah has made a number of television appearances in her native US, as well as releasing three studio albums and two EPs. She has released 12 singles to date, including covers of U2’s With or Without You and Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want by The Smiths.

But our astronaut isn’t quite like others, she’s different.

Alba has been in training and she has even made her own rocket, but can she really power a rocket with crisps? What is past Pluto? Are there robots in space? Will anyone ever listen to the smallest of space explorers?

It’s one small step for most astronauts, but one giant leap for little Alba!

Riverside Ragas: Shashank Subramanyam

Grammy award-nominated Shashank Subramanyam is a flute maestro known internationally for his immense talent. Shashank began learning the flute from a young age and performed in the senior most spot of the Music Academy at just 12 years old, a record yet to be broken in the history of South Indian music.

Now with more than 30 years’ experience, he is considered one of the very best bamboo flute artists in the world and has performed across the globe with the likes of Zakir Hussain, Paco De Lucia and Pandit Ajoy Chakraborthy. Shashank has propelled the bamboo flute into an enviable position by his playing techniques, including the multi flute transposed fingering technique and the dual octave production, which have won him world-wide acclaim.

Joining Shashank onstage are two internationally renowned musicians, Mysore Srikanth on violin and Parupalli Phalgun on mridangam.

Mysore Srikanth is a disciple of Vidwan H.K. Narasimha Murthy, and follows the ‘Parur style’ of playing. He has perfromed regularly for All India Radio as well as accompanying some of the world’s best musicians in their live performances, including Bombay Jayashri and Abhishek Raghuram.

Parupalli Phalgun is a multi-award winning mridangam expert player who has toured extensively around the world, accompanying some of the biggest names in South Indian music.

An ensemble of Veena players (Vainikas) explore and push the limits of this ancient stringed instrument over a programme of new work, featuring unique bass tones, multi-octave sounds and rich gamakas.

One is the latest work from ‘zerOclassikal’, a project offering radical and experimental approaches to South Asian classical music, and presenting the next generation of British South Asian classical talent.

Faith – The George Michael Legacy

A stunning celebration of one the greatest singer songwriters of all time, featuring international George Michael tribute Wayne Dilks and his 8 piece band.
