A North Yorkshire production company has celebrated a decade in business by completing a number of high profile projects.

Fridge Productions, based at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, has ended its 10th successful year in business having secured contracts with the North Yorks Moors National Park, Scarborough Borough Council, the new Alpamare waterpark in Scarborough and Ryedale District Council.

The business, owned by experienced film producer and director David Jinks, counts organisations such as the BBC, Welcome to Yorkshire, National Geographic, The North Face and Lloyds Bank as clients and has seen a 20% increase in new work boosted by the company’s success producing a promotional film about the Yorkshire leg of 2014’s Tour de France. The film, which attracted tens of thousands of hits online, was commissioned by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.

Fridge Productions’ has become one of the North’s leading production companies for the travel and tourism sectors and in recent months has produced a series of promotional films for the North Yorks Moors National Park focussing on the area’s heritage, food, leisure and adventure offerings that can be found along the coastline from Saltburn-by-the-Sea down to Scarborough.

In 2016 Fridge was asked to produce a partnering series of films for Scarborough Borough Council to further promote tourism, extending the area towards Bridlington and inland towards Thirsk. This included an advert for the new multi-million-pound Alpamare waterpark in the town which was screened on ITV in peak time slots during Coronation Street, with a longer version for cinemas.

And the production company has recently been working with Castle Howard to promote their stately home as a film location in the US. The film, shot using drone, had 24,000 views on the Welcome to Yorkshire site within 3 days.

David Jinks established Fridge Productions in 2006 following a successful career in corporate communications in the financial sector. Since then, his business has worked all over the world in locations such as Lebanon, China and Austria on a range of projects for industrial, charitable and travel organisations to name just a few.

The company’s films are produced using some of the most hi-tech equipment available, the same as that used on Hollywood films such as Skyfall, Matt Damon’s The Martian and Avengers: Age of Ultron and David Jinks pulls the appropriate teams together dependent on each project’s needs thanks to his UK-wide contacts in the industry.

Speaking about his decade in business and successful 2016, David said: “It’s certainly been a very interesting ten years and 2016 has surpassed our expectations- largely thanks to our growing reputation in the travel and tourism sectors. It’s great to be able to promote the stunning North East and Yorkshire regions to a worldwide market both online and on TV.

“This year we have seen a 20% growth in our business which we attribute to our highly skilled talent pool, which is a mix of local experts and highly-experienced film makers, producers and directors from London- it’s quite rare for a North East business to be creating opportunities for people in London but we are. We have also worked closely with the film and media students at Cleveland College of Art and Design as we’re always keen to develop the next generation who are hugely creative with a raft of ideas.

“It’s a very exciting time for our industry as more organisations than ever before recognise the benefits of video content for marketing. But we also understand that it can be a daunting prospect- that why we make the process simple, fun and cost-effective all of which contributes to our continuing success, putting the region on the map.”
