Facilities manager Christine Huntington is delighted to announce the latest benefit to being a tenant at the newly renovated Commerce House in Middlesbrough.

A high number of digital agencies, could, if they become a tenant, benefit from business rates relief.

The luxury office accommodation is part of Middlesbrough’s Historic Quarter, one of the Tees Valley’s 12 Enterprise Zones. These Enterprise Zones are part of the government’s Industrial Strategy aiming to support business growth across the country.

Christine Explains further:

“Eligible companies who move into Commerce House could qualify for up to £55,000 a year of rate relief over a period of five years. That equals a massive £275,000. To qualify companies will need to prove that they truly belong to the digital, technology or creative industry and be able to demonstrate their growth plan over the next five years.”

Commerce House is a stunning Grade II Listed building just opposite the train station in the city centre. The building now hosts a range of tenants, and has just a handful or larger offices available, perfect for up to 14 people. Other services include a stunning boardroom, business lounge, event room, virtual tenancy and hot desking facilities.

Debbie Ingoldsby, investment and growth manager for Middlesbrough Council said:

“Commerce House is at the heart of Middlesbrough’s Enterprise Zone and so tenants in the digital industry could qualify for rate relief – its not an automatic exemption though – the company needs to complete an application form and show 20% growth projections. As this is a booming industry, that is not an unsurmountable projection for most!”
