The walks will take place across the May Spring Bank Holiday week, with the official launch walk at Scarborough, Britain’s first seaside resort, on Sunday 29th May.

Expert guides from Hidden Horizons will be on hand at points along the route to share fascinating facts about the local history, geology and wildlife. As the tide goes out, walkers can stroll along the beach, explore the rock pools and even find dinosaur footprints (yes, really!) in the exposed rocks at the front of the Spa.

Starting at the Sun Court Café in the surrounds of the Grade II listed Scarborough Spa, the walk will follow the South Bay towards the harbours. Passing the Headland en route to the North Bay, walkers will get the chance to pause at North Bay Railway for free water and cakes before returning to the Spa via the same path.

The walk will be at a leisurely pace, with plenty of opportunities to take in the beautiful seashore and local surroundings. Avoiding roads, it is perfect for walkers of all ages and suitable for off-road/all-terrain child buggies.

With a donation of just £10 per adult (aged over 16) and £2.50 for children aged 5 to 16, walkers will experience a great day out and help two worthwhile charities as the proceeds will be shared between the Rotary Club of Scarborough Cavaliers and the Family Holiday Association.

For more information or to book your place on the walk, please visit SeasideWalkWeek.org.uk.

Working in conjunction with Hidden Horizons, Scarborough Borough Council, Scarborough Spa and Welcome to Yorkshire, walkers will discover Scarborough coast through local specialists for a fun and informative day out.

Janet Deacon, Area Director  for Welcome to Yorkshire said “We are delighted that the Family Holiday Association has decided to launch their annual Seaside Walk in Scarborough this year.  The charity undertakes some amazing work to ensure that families who are dealing with difficult challenges have access to holidays and breaks across the UK”.

Jim Martin, President of the Scarborough Rotary Club of Cavaliers said “ We are honored to be involved in the event this year working in partnership will enable us all to raise money for vitally important organizations like the Family Holiday Association”.

Created by the Family Holiday Association, the only national charity dedicated to providing seaside breaks and day trips for families struggling with some of the toughest challenges life can bring. Seaside Walk Week will encourage people across the UK to spend time together at the seaside whilst raising awareness and funds for the charity, enabling their work in helping more struggling families to enjoy the benefits of a holiday by the coast.
