North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Durham County Council
Durham County Council

The bridge is the closest one to the River Tees and leads on to the bandstand.

The works are part of Heart of Teesdale’s Flatts Wood and Tees Bank restoration programme, which aims to restore and enhance the walks and banks leading from the Scar Top area in the centre of Barnard Castle. Extensive work has already been carried out in the Wood.

The works will commence on Monday 15th August and will continue for a maximum of 2 weeks (weather and conditions permitting). The footpath over the bridge will be closed and a diversion will be put in place.  This unavoidable temporary closure will be kept to a minimum and for their own safety the public are advised to adhere to formal closure signs, follow the temporary diversion route along the top of Tees Bank and take advice/instructions from the contractors.

This work is being carried out with the cooperation and kind consent of Raby Estate.

Apologies are given for the inconvenience these works will cause and if you have any further enquiries, please contact Alex Sijpesteijn, Programme Manager, on 03000 260842 or alex.sijpesteijn@durham.gov.uk.
