North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

CHRISTMAS will be arriving early in a North East village, as a leading pub hosts its own winter festival this month (December).

The Runhead at Ryton, operated by Newcastle-based leisure company, Malhotra Group plc, has organised the event as a follow-up to its popular August Beer and Cider Festivals.

From Friday to Sunday, 8-10 December, the popular pub will be transformed into a winter wonderland of festive food, drink and entertainment.

A number of stalls will be setup selling a host of festive treats and gift ideas, including gin packs and crafts with support from local firms.

Christmas tipples such as mulled wine, mulled cider and local craft ales will be available, along with a Prosecco station.

Carol singers from a local church will be setting the scene along with live music from local bands, and there will also be an assortment of festive food available.

Youngsters can try their hand at Christmas-themed crafts and there will also be a raffle, with all proceeds going to the Malhotra Group’s nominated charity, the Newcastle United Foundation.

“We are all very excited to be hosting our first Winter Festive-For-All, which comes following the success of the Beer and Cider Festivals which we have run for the last four years,” said James Watters, manager of The Runhead.

“For a while now, some of our locals have been pressing us to organise a winter festival, and we’re pleased to finally be able to give them what they want.

“We’ve lined up some fantastic stalls and plenty of festive food and drink, while the carollers will help get everyone in the Christmas spirit.”
