Starting this week (November 30), the Brasserie at National Glass Centre, Sunderland, will be serving a Festive Afternoon Tea every afternoon from 2.30pm.

This includes a selection of finger sandwiches, such as roast turkey with cranberry, smoked salmon with cream cheese and cucumber, Wensleydale with cranberry and egg mayonnaise and rocket.

In addition, guests will receive a slice of seasonal quiche, as well as a special mixed spice and cherry scone with a side of brandy cream.

For those with a sweet tooth the Festive Afternoon Tea also offers millionaire shortbread, traditional macaroons and a piece of iced Christmas cake.

Steve Welch, Executive Head Chef at 1879 Events Management, which manages catering and events at National Glass Centre, said: “Afternoon Tea is one of the Brasserie’s most popular offerings and this year we’re going all out to make it as festive as possible during December.”

The Brasserie at National Glass Centre is run by 1879 Events Management, which also manages private and corporate events at the Stadium of Light and owns the Beach house bistro, Roker.

Festive Afternoon Tea will be served from 2.30pm until 4.30pm Monday to Saturday, with prices starting at £13.50pp for a traditional serving or £17.50 per person for a more indulgent serving, which includes a glass of mulled wine.

Advanced booking is advised and can be made by calling 0191 515 5555 (option 1).

This is one of a series of events planned by the company during December, with other highlights including daily festive lunches and party nights every Friday and Saturday.
