North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

stockton council largeResidents across Stockton-on-Tees still have time to feedback on the proposals on the future of branch libraries in Fairfield and Egglescliffe.

The consultation on the library services was launched by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council after it proposed the closure of Egglescliffe Library once the refurbishment of Yarm Library is complete.

It also proposed the closure of Fairfield Library if a partner organisation or alternative host facility for that library cannot be found.

The Council made the proposals as part of an ongoing review of its services in light of a reduction in budgets.

Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Culture and Leisure, said: “We know how valued our libraries are and that is why we want to hear first-hand from everyone who uses the service, how they use it and what impact these closures, should they go ahead, may have.

“The consultation is vital for us to understand how you would like to access library services in the future. The survey takes just a few minutes to complete so I would really encourage you to complete it online or visit your local Stockton Borough library to pick up a copy.”

Consultation questionnaires are available at www.stockton.gov.uk/consultations or from any Stockton Borough library.

The consultation will end on Friday 1 July.
