Stockton School Crowned Road Safety Champions

Screen Shot 2015-12-11 at 14.25.12More than 500 young people have battled it out at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s annual Road Safety quiz.

Teams from 32 primary schools have been competing throughout the last month and on Tuesday (8 December) the three finalists, Kirklevington Primary School, Ingleby Mill Primary School and William Cassidi C of E Aided Primary School went head-to-head at the Baptist Tabernacle in Stockton.

After a an extremely close fought contest that ended with Kirklevington Primary and Ingleby Mill Primary finishing level on points, Kirklevington Primary were eventually crowned the winners after a tense tie breaker round and were presented with the coveted trophy by Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Ian Dalgarno.

The Mayor said: “Congratulations to Kirklevington Primary school.  They’ve obviously worked hard to prepare for the competition and I’m sure they have learnt many road safety tips along the way.”

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, Councillor Nigel Cooke, added: “This is a fun way to help our young people learn how to keep safe and I’m really pleased so many of our schools have been able to participate.”

The Year Six pupils from the winning school also won a free ice-skate or swim voucher courtesy of Tees Active.
