WITH the General Election just four weeks away, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is reminding residents to make sure they are registered to vote.

Anyone who is not already on the electoral register must register by Monday 22 May.

Those who would like to vote by post must apply by 5pm on Tuesday 23 May, while the application deadline to vote by proxy is 5pm on Wednesday 31 May.

Registration can be completed online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or by phoning the Voter Registration Helpline on 01642 526196.

Registration takes just a few minutes and requires people to provide their date of birth and National Insurance number. The online service is compatible with all platforms, including smartphones and tablets.

Alternatively, hard copy registration forms are also available by request.

Polling stations across Stockton Borough will be open for voting between 7am and 10pm on Thursday 8 June.

Anyone who registers to vote by post is encouraged to return their ballot paper using the pre-paid envelope as soon as they have completed it.

For further information or to request a hard copy registration form visit www.stockton.gov.uk/registertovote call 01642 526196 or email electoral@stockton.gov.uk
