Students have Designs on Success at Summer Show Opening Night

CCADStudents from Cleveland College of Art & Design (CCAD) in Middlesbrough will be revealing their artistic flair at the opening night of the College’s summer show next week.

On display at the specialist art and design college are works from students studying a variety of programme and courses. These include Access to Higher Education Diploma, A-Levels, Foundation Diploma, and BTEC Extended Diplomas in subjects such as photography, graphic design, costume, jewellery and interior accessories, and interactive media.

As the VIP private viewing on Wednesday 15th June draws near, students are busily making last minute adjustments for the hundreds of visitors anticipated to see the exhibition over the next six days.

Olivia Walker, 20, from Saltburn, is just completing her final year in the BTEC Extended Diploma for Textiles, and will be studying Textile Design at the Glasgow School of Art later this year. For her final major project, she created a collection of textiles – cushions and wallpaper designs – based around religious architecture.

She said: “I am really excited to see my work displayed this year alongside the others on my course. We have all put a lot of work into this unit so I can’t wait to see how it will look. The chance to see your work displayed in a more professional environment is really motivating, and I have a number of family members coming to see the show; including my mum who is travelling from Spain just to make it!”
