Sunderland Businesses get first look at Vacant Property Scheme

logo-bidA PIONEERING partnership which aims to help transform vacant properties in Sunderland city centre will be showcased to a range of local businesses this week (May 25).

Sunderland Business Improvement District has joined forces with Sunderland College, who are providing students from their painting and decorating course to transform the former Game store on High Street West.

The two week project – which will give students the opportunity to gain real experience – is also being supported by Gentoo who are providing experienced supervision and a range of resources…

Invitations to the event have also been sent out to the landlord, commercial agents and partner organisations to see the refurbished property and meet the students involved.

“This scheme has tremendous possibilities for the city and it’s the perfect partnership as the building is being refurbed – which makes it much more attractive from a commercial point of view – at no cost but is also giving Sunderland College students some real, on the job, experience,” said Ken Dunbar, Chief Executive of Sunderland BID.
