Teams invited to take part in football tournament

A County Durham school is inviting teams to take part in a football tournament this weekend.

Durham Trinity School and Sports College and recruiters Teaching Personnel have joined together to hold the five-a-side competition, with all funds raised going towards the school.

Parents, students and staff are all invited to enter teams for the event which will kick off at 10.30am on Saturday, November 18 and end with a trophy presentation.

Those who don’t want to play can also go along to cheer on the teams, with refreshments available to purchase and the chance to win a red letter day experience in a ‘Guess the footballs in the jar’ competition.

Matt Peverall, SEN consultant at Teaching Personnel, said: “We have a long standing partnership with Durham Trinity School and Sports College and so wanted to arrange an event to give something back.

“We are hoping for a large turnout on the day and welcome anyone who would like to enter a team or just come along and watch to get involved, as all profits will be going directly to the school.”

Headteacher Rachel Grimwood said: “This promises to be a fantastic event and we are grateful to Teaching Personnel for helping to organise the tournament.

“Those less keen on football can still enjoy the day supporting the players from the sidelines and cheering on their favourite team.”
