The Botanist tastes success after breaking World Record

Screen Shot 2016-02-22 at 10.17.48THIS February, over 100 gin lovers descended on Newcastle bar and restaurant The Botanist to break a world record which ended in celebrations as the attempt was declared successful.

The New World Trading Company has achieved a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS ™ title for the largest gin tasting held over multiple venues. With a combined figure of 796 from participants across the UK attending The Botanist and Trading House locations, the company has smashed the 300 participant target.

With a little help from friends at Tanqueray No. 10, Whitley Neill and Caorunn Gin, all 796 participants enjoyed a gin tasting with the three premium gins followed by a gin party with live music for all involved and G&Ts served with partnering luxury tonic Fever Tree.

The UK wide event is now the company’s second GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS ™ title alongside the record awarded in July 2015 for the Most Varieties of Rum Commercially Available, achieved at The Smugglers Cove in Liverpool, with 151 different types of rum on offer.

The New World Trading Company is thrilled to have achieved the record. Managing director of The New World Trading Company Chris Hill said: “We’re very proud of our extensive gin offering and it was great to have gin experts in each venue to give our guests more insight into the botanicals which make Tanqueray 10, Whitley Neill and Caorunn Gin so special.”

The Botanist Newcastle senior business development manager Paul Burns said: “It was an amazing night and we’re over the moon to have secured a brand new world record. To have 796 people at nine venues simultaneously taste gin is a truly amazing feat of teamwork and organisation. There was such a good turnout of both familiar faces and new customers who we hope will continue to be a part of our exciting events in 2016.”
