The Heat is on for North East Businesswomen

Screen Shot 2015-09-25 at 13.59.50SEVERAL of the North East’s leading ladies will be heading to Newcastle for the regional heat in the National Women in Business awards.

The National Women in Business Awards, organised by leading business forum Forward Ladies and sponsored by HSBC, are designed to recognise the achievements of professional women across the country and inspire future generations.

The Yorkshire and North East heat of this year’s awards will be held at the Crowne Plaza, Newcastle, on September 29, where the region’s finalists will be announced.

Among the women in the running for the awards are Kayley Smith, retail and marketing director at Sweet Tooth Delivery, West Boldon, who is on the shortlist for the Rising Star award.

Sophie Milliken, operations director for Smart Resourcing Solutions Ltd, Newcastle, is in the running for the SME Emerging award and Kristy Giblin co-owner of The Pudding Parlour, Prudhoe, is a finalist in the retail category.

Jules Quinn owner of The TeaShed, Newcastle, is on the shortlist for the Young Entrepreneur award, along with Robyn Wilson owner of Wilson Barbershop Co, Newcastle and Chloe Hall founder of Bumble and Bloom Media, North Tyneside.

There will also be a number of other categories including digital and online, not for profit, start-up, international, SME growth, and inspiring leader, along with the science, technology, mathematics and engineering (STEM) business of the year and the lifetime achievement award.

The heat, which will be compered by ITN’s Charlene White, will include a speech from the founder of Crafter’s Companion, Sara Davies, and a three course meal cooked by the chefs at the Crowne Plaza.

There will also be a number of other heats held across the country including, The Midlands awards in Nottingham, on October 9, the London and South awards in London, on October 16, and the North West and Isle of Man awards in Manchester on October 23.

The finalist, from all four heats, will go on to the next round of judging with the winner set to be announced at the final ceremony held at the Queen’s Hotel, Leeds, on November 20.

The Newcastle heat, which is sponsored by the Spa at Ramside, George F White and Sorted PR, will start at 11.30am with a drinks reception.
