The Hunt is on for the Port’s Next Apprentice Positions

Screen Shot 2015-06-23 at 12.01.52The Port of Tyne is looking for eleven new apprentices to join its award winning team, with positions currently available in Human Resources, Marketing, Legal Administration, Port Operations, Security, Surveying, Warehousing and Distribution.

The UK’s Port of the Year is offering the chance to work towards vocational qualifications which are a stepping-stone to gaining professional qualifications, and to gain work experience in one of the North East’s leading businesses.

Geoff Gillon, Port of Tyne Director of Human Resources, said: “Our latest apprentice recruitment drive is all about creating new opportunities and we are inviting applications, no matter what your background, skills or experience to take part in our successful rising stars programme in partnership with South Tyneside College, South Tyneside Council and Zenith People.”

Opportunities available at the Port of Tyne offer the potential to enter a professional discipline in Engineering, Legal Services or Marketing – working alongside professionals providing the chance to carve out an exciting career.

The LGV Driver apprenticeship offers the opportunity to develop a career in the logistics sector.  For people considering a role in Human Resources the HR apprenticeship is a step towards a career in personnel management. And the IT apprenticeship is the chance to develop a flourishing career in Information Technology.

Other opportunities to learn the ropes and gain valuable on the job training are available as a Port Operative apprentice, Security apprentice and Warehousing apprentice.

The Port is looking for new starters who are driven and want to join the success of the Port – to apply for the latest apprenticeship vacancies you need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above or equivalent. A valid driving licence is also required for some positions and for specific apprenticeships you need to be aged 18 or over.
